Lt. Gov. Ramsey to attend Strawberry Festival
Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey has accepted an invitation to speak at the 2012 West Tennessee Strawberry Festival in historic Humboldt, Tennessee.
“I am honored and pleased once again to be making a trip to Humboldt for the Strawberry Festival,” said Ramsey. “I have been to the Festival many times and I am always struck by the kindness and hospitality of the people of Humboldt. I’m looking forward to a good time and connecting with some old friends.”
Lt. Governor Ramsey is scheduled to speak at 12:30 p.m. at the Governor’s Luncheon at the Humboldt General Hospital and Conference Center.
Tennessee’s conservative leader, Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey is the first GOP Senate Speaker in Tennessee in 140 years and the first from Sullivan County in over 100 years. In the 2008 elections, Ramsey led Tennessee’s Republicans to a gain of three Senate seats and a solid five seat majority. Lt. Governor Ramsey became the longest-serving Republican Senate Speaker in Tennessee history in 2009.
Under Ramsey’s leadership in 2010, Republicans both increased their majority in the Senate and gained a numerical majority in the House of Representatives for the first time since 1869. In 2011, Ramsey was again honored by his colleagues in the Senate when he was elected to a third term as Speaker.
Ramsey resides in Blountville with his wife, Sindy. The Ramsey’s have three daughters, Tiffany, Sheena and Madison and three son-in-laws, Dustin, Kenny, and A.J. Lt. Governor Ramsey is also blessed with a grandson, Parker.
